Holly was born in 1980 to Licka. She also had a sister, Havannah, who, unusually for this population, never had a calf. Her babies Surf, Current, Cameleon and Albion are named after places around British Columbia, Canada. In the spring of 2017, Holly had her sixth baby who has yet to be named. When this new son or daughter was born, he or she had very mottled skin, appearing almost entirely grey, which is actually fairly common in young orcas.
Holly and her family are one of the few groups seen in Johnstone Strait during the winter, but they also travel into southeast Alaska and so their range is more than 500 kilometres!
