Game of Thrones star Jerome Flynn thanks the Humble Community after WDC is named Humble Bundle’s August charity of the month

Online video games platform Humble Bundle has announced further support for WDC's work to end the cruel practice of keeping whales and dolphins in captivity through its charity of the month programme. 

Funds will be raised across a range of games, software and book bundles, and through the Humble store for the month of August. Humble Bundle’s unique system allows you to only pay what you want for a bundle and also choose how much goes to charity.

Video game to save endangered St. Lawrence Belugas

A computer simulator that resembles a video game could save the endangered St. Lawrence beluga whales. The simulator will help scientists to enter data about beluga whales and ships to evaluate and understand how much time each whale spends in the acoustic range of a vessel.

Game of Thrones Star becomes new Patron of Whale and Dolphin Conservation

We are delighted to announce that Game of Thrones star Jerome Flynn has agreed to become a WDC Patron.

Jerome is well-known for his role as skilled mercenary Bronn of the Blackwater in the global TV hit, Game of Thrones. He also starred in ITV’s Soldier Soldier and Ripper Street. Aside from acting both on TV and stage, he is a big animal lover and long-term supporter of WDC.

He is not only a passionate campaigner for whale and dolphin protection against the increasing threats they face but also raises awareness of the need for responsible whale watching in the wild.

Doubts remain after Icelandic Marine Institute claims slaughtered whale was a hybrid not a blue

Experts remain sceptical of initial test results issued by the Icelandic Marine Institute, which indicate that a whale controversially killed just a few days ago by whalers was a blue/fin hybrid, not a pure blue.

Blue whales are a protected species even in Icelandic waters but hybrids are not and, despite their equally rare status, there are no penalties for killing a hybrid blue/fin whale.
