Supporters view - why WDC makes a difference

WDC is fortunate to be supported by thousands of members and volunteers. We also work closely with a number of corporate partners.

Relic Entertainment and Sega

Vancouver-based Relic Entertainment (owned by entertainment giant Sega) have been supporting WDC since 2015 by choosing us as a partner charity for their package for sale via online games store, Humble Bundle. Through Humble Bundle video game fans are able to access one-off packages of games and other goodies for a limited time through and are able to ‘pay what you want’ and choose how your money is split between the games developer, Humble Bundle and a range of good causes – including WDC.

Following on from our first Humble Bundle working with Sega in 2014, our recent Bundle was the second working with Relic - who previously raised a huge $72,000 to help our vital orca conservation work in Canada.

Talking of the recent Bundle, Justin Dowdeswell, Relic's general manager said: “The natural beauty of British Columbia is part of why Relic calls Vancouver home. We are happy to once again partner with WDC so the games we make can help preserve and protect our unique wildlife and landscape.”

Off the Map Travel

WDC are proud to work with specialist travel company Off the Map Travel, who launched its new responsible whale watching experience range in 2015 - becoming the first ever UK-based travel company to fully adhere to Whale and Dolphin Conservation’s (WDC) policy on 'responsible whale watching’, across all of its trips.

In addition, WDC receive a donation equivalent to 2% of the total cost of the whale watching trips sold across Off the Map’s full range of destinations, including Norway, Greenland and Iceland, as well as Tenerife – helping to support us in our aim of a world where every whale and dolphin is safe and free.

Jonny Cooper, Director of Off the Map Travel, said: “We are very proud to be the first ever UK-based travel company to fully comply with WDC's standards on responsible whale watching with every experience sold and fully adhere to WDC’s best practice guidelines. Every single one of our whale and dolphin watching holidays also now includes a donation to WDC so that the charity can continue their vital work protecting these amazing creatures from the threats they face every day”.
