Alpha Travel Insurance supports WDC’s journey to save and protect whales and dolphins across the globe

Alpha Travel Insurance is inspiring globe trotters to make more sustainable choices wherever their adventure takes them, supporting WDC's mission to create a world where every whale and dolphin is safe and free.

In 2017 Alpha removed 'swim with dolphin' experiences for travelers from their policies and activity packs, to support WDC's policy against this activity, and to advocate our goal to end captivity.

Every year, hundreds of thousands of tourists visit parks and zoos that feature shows involving captive whales and dolphins and that allow visitors to swim with them. Whales and dolphins are too mobile, too emotionally complex, and too astonishingly intelligent to be held in tiny tanks and subjected to repetitive acts.

WDC and Alpha Insurance working together for whales and dolphins

WDC is delighted to see Alpha Travel Insurance joining the movement to end whale and dolphin captivity and create a healthier and more sustainable future for these amazing creatures.

Whilst holiday brochures often contain turquoise waters, breaching whales, and coral reefs bustling with life, Alpha acknowledges that this is a fading picture, and it's everyone's responsibility to keep the ocean healthy for marine life, even when booking your holiday experience.

Through our shared vision, we will work with tourists to reduce the threats faced by marine life and raise awareness for responsible tourism. Alpha aims to do this in three ways. Firstly, by working with us to create and promote educational content on the impact that tourism has on marine life and how we can reduce it, by removing the sale of ‘swim with dolphin’ insurance policies and, finally, by helping to fund our research projects by donating 10% of all base premiums purchased using code ‘WDCAlpha’ to our conservation work.

So, if you're looking to embark on your own journey in the upcoming year, visit the Alpha Travel Insurance website today. By entering the code 'WDCAlpha' at the checkout, you can receive a 20% discount and contribute to our efforts here at WDC.
