Introducing the Whale and Dolphin Conservation official collectible card by Prince Hussain Aga Khan and philropy

We are happy to share that the philanthropy cards startup philropy, and environmentalist photographer Prince Hussain Aga Khan have joined forces to create the official collectible card featuring Whale and Dolphin Conservation.

What you can see on the card is a wild Spinner dolphin (Stenella longirostris) photographed by Prince Hussain during his expedition at Sataya reef. Spinner dolphins live in nearly all tropical and warm-temperate waters. Spinner dolphins are regarded as one of the most acrobatic of dolphins for their acrobatics and aerial displays, leaping up to 10 feet high from the water and spinning up to seven times in the air before descending back into the water and landing on its side. These behaviors are believed by experts to be acoustic signaling or communication, as well as to remove ectoparasites such as remoras. Sataya is a small reef about 3 miles long that creates cover for the dolphins to come and rest during the day, before going out off the reef at night to eat squid.

Prince Hussain said about his underwater photography expedition in the Red Sea: “I try to go to small sorts of breakaway groups and photograph the playfulness, the mating and the interaction. If you're lucky, you'll have a dolphin stay with you for a minute or
two. And even if not, just being with 50, 60 or 100 dolphins, it's one of the most amazing things in the world. Really, truly incredible.”

The spinner dolphin population is unfortunately highly threatened in the Red Sea region by the unregulated intensification of dolphin tourism and the disregard of wildlife viewing guidelines. Water pollution, including plastic and toxic waste have also led to the degradation of their habitat.
