The Last Whale – your chance to win a copy of new book

Read this thrilling new children's book about a girl who wants to protect whales and save the world.

The Last Whale is about Abi, a young and passionate eco warrior who wants to make a difference.  It is an exciting adventure story that follows Abi’s family’s quest to save the whale and tackle the worsening climate crisis on Earth.

Author Chris Vick has worked for WDC for many years, and his love of whales has inspired this exciting, moving story. During a holiday with her grandmother on a remote Norwegian island, Abi’s life changes forever when she and her sister, Tegan, come face to face with a pod of magnificent whales.

Abi is upset to find out her great-grandfather worked on a whaling ship as a boy. But then she discovers his diaries and recordings of whale songs. These show her that the whales captured his heart, just as they have captured hers. Abi and her artificial intelligence computer, Moonlight, discover the whale songs are warnings and a cry for help. Whale numbers are dwindling, our climate is collapsing and all life on Earth is in trouble. But Abi and Moonlight are determined to help. Can tech help us save the whale?
