WDC invites businesses to join our brand new Climate Giant project

At WDC, we’re thrilled to announce the Climate Giant Project; a brand new initiative that allows businesses to directly support whale conservation projects and help fight the climate crisis. It’s the ocean’s alternative to planting trees.

The battle against climate change can feel hopeless sometimes. Luckily, we have some massive allies. Whales.

These Climate Giants are fighting climate change in a big way. Our underwater allies are helping to remove as much carbon from the atmosphere as all the rainforests on land. They are like giant, swimming trees, supporting our marine ecosystem. If baleen whale populations recovered to their pre-whaling numbers, they could store almost a billion trees worth of carbon.

The ocean covers 70% of the world’s surface. Its vital ecosystems support our economies and societies worldwide and their collapse would bring untold chaos.  Yet the ocean receives little by way of climate finance. According to the UBS report ‘Sea Beyond the Blue’, ocean conservation has received less than 1% of philanthropic funding since 2009 and remains the least funded of the SDG’s. The Climate Giant project aims to change this.

By joining the Climate Giant project businesses will help to revolutionise ocean research and protection and be part of something incredibly exciting and innovative.  Animal Friends Pet Insurance, global water filter brand, BRITA and service design company, LiveWork have already done so and now directly support research and conservation projects that help to protect and save more whales.

Help us stop whaling, create healthy seas, and prevent the deaths in nets of any more of these Climate Giants. A healthy planet needs a healthy ocean, and a healthy ocean needs whales. We want to hear from like-minded businesses who see the value of protecting our environment, the ocean and these Climate Giants. Get in touch today.
