WDC partner, Skylum, makes a splash for World Oceans Day

This World Oceans Day, WDC has joined forces with award-winning photo-editing software company, Skylum, to celebrate the ocean, and inspire action to protect the whales and dolphins who call it home.

From 5th to 30th June, Skylum is supporting WDC through a dedicated World Oceans Day campaign and a wide range of exciting events, a competition and special offers, all raising funds for WDC and our work protecting whales and dolphins across the globe.

Skylum is an award-winning software company, who develop Luminar AI, an image editor powered by artificial intelligence. Last year Skylum supported WDC through their Luminar Humble Bundle which raised an incredible $76,000 for us - helping to fund our urgent research in the South Atlantic that we hope will help protect many species of whales and dolphins from harmful noise pollution.

Inspired by the impact of their incredible donation, the Skylum team has, chosen to expand their support of WDC with a special Oceans Day campaign highlighting the amazing role that whales play in helping us tackle the climate crisis.  Sally Ward, WDC partnerships officer said: ‘it is so fantastic to be working with Kevin once again, and the whole Skylum team who are extremely passionate about our work. It’s amazing to see how whales and dolphins can inspire a whole company to take action to help us protect the ocean and our planet’

‘Earlier this year, Skylum was able to provide some monetary support to WDC and it was quite gratifying to see the wonderful and very pragmatic things they accomplished with those funds,’ said Kevin La Rue, VP for Int’l Bus Dev at Skylum. ’As we got to know the organisation better, and understood more of their goals - especially the Green Whale initiative - naturally we wanted to further support their efforts. I think we’ll be working with WDC for a long time into the future.’
