This month we were delighted to be able to say a big ‘happy 10th birthday’ to our friends at Humble Bundle – the online book, video game and software retailer – who celebrated 10 years since the launch of their very first ‘bundle’.

Based in San Francisco, the team at Humble Bundle and their community of over 12 million customers worldwide have been incredible supporters of WDC and our work since 2014, raising a staggering £2.3 million with help from WDC partners like Relic Entertainment, SEGA, 505 Games, The Yogscast and Mercury Learning – all of whom have sold their book, software and video game titles through Humble Bundle in support of WDC.

Bundles supporting WDC have included everything from leading video games and graphic novel collections to science, maths and technology books and video editing software! The funds raised over the last 6 years have contributed vital donations to some of our most important conservation work and campaigns, including our work to secure a safe future for the Southern Resident Orcas and our intern and research programme working to prevent entanglements of endangered North Atlantic right whales. It’s also allowed us to provide a much needed boat to our friends at OrcaLab to help them better monitor and protect WDC’s adoption programme orcas – Fife, Holly, Simoom and Bend – and their families. In August 2018, Humble Bundle even chose WDC as their ‘charity of the month’, helping support our ground-breaking project with SEA LIFE Trust to build the world’s first whale sanctuary, now home to belugas Little White and Little Grey.

For those new to the world of ‘bundles’ a Humble Bundle is time-limited collections of e-books, computer software or video games offered as a special package on humblebundle.com. When you buy a bundle, you choose the price you want to pay – often saving a huge percentage off the RRP. Every single product that Humble Bundle sell supports one or more good causes and you can even choose how your money is divided up between Humble Bundle, the creators and publishers of the games, software or books and charities, including WDC. To date, over 47 million bundles have been sold, and counting!

It’s not just WDC who have been the grateful recipients of the Humble Bundle community’s generosity – to date Humble Bundle have raised over $175m for charities making a huge difference to good causes all over the world.

We hope that you’ll join us in saying a big ‘happy 10th birthday’ to everyone at Humble Bundle and thanking them for helping us in our vital work to keep whales and dolphins safe and free. Here’s to the next 10 years!
