Mercury Learning STEM bundle raises $79,000 for WDC

We are delighted to announce that US-based publisher Mercury Learning have raised an amazing $79,000 for WDC, through a special sale of their STEM: Science, Technology and Mathematics book bundle, which ran over Christmas through the online store Humble Bundle.

Humble Bundle is an online retail store that allows customers to buy ‘bundles’ or books, video games and software for a fraction of the price through their flexible pricing policy. As well as choosing the price you want to pay, you can even choose how your money is divided between the creators of the titles, Humble Bundle and their chosen charities.

Abbie Cheesman, WDC partnerships manager, commented: “To be chosen by the team at Mercury Learning to benefit from sales of their recent book bundle was a wonderful surprise, and we are so grateful to them for continuing to support our vital work protecting whales and dolphins across the world. We’d also like to thank every single person who purchased the bundle for their generosity, which really will make a huge positive difference to our conservation work and campaigns.

A huge 27,650 book bundles were sold between 24th December 2018 and 7th January 2019. The bundle included 32 STEM-themed eBooks, ranging from topics such as Basic Electronics to Mathematical Physics and Heart Disease and Health.

David Pallai from Mercury Learning said; “We’re delighted to be able to support WDC through our STEM book bundle, the second time we have done so. Being based on the East Coast of the US, we are lucky to share our home with some of the amazing species that WDC is working hard to protect, including humpbacks and North Atlantic right whales, which are one of the world’s most endangered large whale species, with only an estimated 450 remaining. We are so pleased that the success of our recent bundle will mean that WDC can continue their efforts to keep these amazing creatures safe and free.”
