Game of Thrones Star becomes new Patron of Whale and Dolphin Conservation

We are delighted to announce that Game of Thrones star Jerome Flynn has agreed to become a WDC Patron.

Jerome is well-known for his role as skilled mercenary Bronn of the Blackwater in the global TV hit, Game of Thrones. He also starred in ITV’s Soldier Soldier and Ripper Street. Aside from acting both on TV and stage, he is a big animal lover and long-term supporter of WDC.

He is not only a passionate campaigner for whale and dolphin protection against the increasing threats they face but also raises awareness of the need for responsible whale watching in the wild.

Commenting on the importance of WDC’s work, Jerome said: “Anyone who has had the privilege of seeing whales and dolphins in the wild will know what an awe-inspiring experience it is. But these majestic creatures face threats every day from capture, hunting, man-made underwater noise, the increasing problem of plastic pollution in the ocean and many others. This is why I support Whale and Dolphin Conservation – an organisation that has been fighting to protect whales and dolphins from these threats for 30 years.”

Jerome is personally involved in fundraising for WDC. He recently helped raise awareness and much needed funds for WDC by taking two lucky competition winners on a once-in-a-lifetime trip to visit iconic locations from Game of Thrones, and on an exclusive whale watching trip in Iceland where we witnessed first-hand his love and excitement for whales.  We could not be more thrilled to welcome Jerome as a new patron.

Danny Groves, WDC’s communications manager, added: “It is a huge privilege to welcome Jerome as WDC’s newest patron! His enthusiasm is entirely aligned with our mission of amazing people with the wonder of whales and dolphins and we are sure he will inspire action to protect them. We cannot thank him enough for his generosity in supporting our work and very much look forward to working with him to protect these incredible creatures.”

In becoming a patron of WDC Jerome joins TV presenters John Craven, Julia Bradbury, Michaela Strachan, Monty Halls and Miranda Krestovnikoff.

We are looking forward to sharing more good news with you soon!
