Ha ha! Supporters generate £8000 for WDC to help whales and dolphins

WDC has received nearly £8,000 from our long-time supporters, Animal Friends Pet Insurance, one of the largest suppliers of pet insurance in the UK, as part of their bi-monthly Facebook competition.

We were selected, along with MCS and BiteBack as one of the ‘ocean’ charities who would share an amazing £20k donation from Animal Friends as part of the competition, which started in July.

Supporters from all over the world helped raise the money for WDC by engaging with an Animal Friends Facebook post that encouraged people to vote for one of the charities using a specific icon – in the case of WDC, the ‘ha ha’ emoji.

Over 1,200 supporters voted for us and the much needed funds will support our ongoing work to protect whales and dolphins around the globe.

Thanks to each and every person who voted, and to Animal Friends for their continued generosity.

Jessica Mackie from Animal Friends said: “We are proud to support WDC and the amazing work that they do. We hope this donation can help with their critical research and important field projects. WDC has such a passion in everything that they do, including educating others of the importance of these majestic creatures and their habitats.”
