Hacktivists take down Nissan website in protest over Japanese whale hunting

Cyber activists claiming to be part of the group, Anonymous have hacked into the global website of car manufacturer Nissan and taken it offline in protest over Japanese whale hunting.

This latest action seems to be part of a wider campaign by the group to attack Japanese organizations. In December, the website of Japanese Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe was also taken down.

The Japanese government recently sanctioned the start of new so-called ‘scientific’ whale hunts in the Antarctic despite a ruling by the International Court of Justice (IJC) banning the hunts on the basis that they were basically commercial whaling dressed up as research, and that they had little scientific merit.
