Humpback whale stuck in Buenos Aires leaves marina

A  humpback whale that was stuck in a luxury marina in Buenos Aires, Argentina, has been led back out to deeper waters.

The whale appeared on Monday and attracted huge numbers on onlookers as rescuers tried to work out how to set it free.

Eventually it was herded out to the La Plata river estuary with the hope it will reach deeper water. According to Miguel Iniguez, a colleague of WDC at the Argentinian NGO, Fundacion Cethus, it was looking underweight as well as suffering from a skin condition, possibly the result of its time in fresh water.
