SeaWorld chief exec resigns

Jim Atchison, the chief executive of SeaWorld, has resigned following recent negative global public criticism, falling revenues and sharp drop in share price.

SeaWorld has seen falling attendances in the wake of the release of the film Blackfish, in 2013, which shone a light on the cruel treatment of killer whales in captivity.

The company’s share price has fallen 44% this year and, in a company statement, SeaWorld said it would be looking at taking measures to save $50m in the coming year.
