The UK’s whales, dolphins, porpoises and seals are featured in a new fold-out chart produced by the Field Studies Council (FSC) in cooperation with WDC.

The guide will be launched this weekend at the Whalefest in Brighton (where you can meet some of the WDC team) and can also be obtained from the FSC website.

With beautiful illustrations by the wildlife artist, Lucy Molleson, and a clear but authoritative text by the WDC Director of Science, the guide provides an introduction to the diversity of marine mammals in UK waters, focusing on the key features to look for when you see these animals from the shore or at sea. It also tells you about some of the key aspects of their biology and who to call if you encounter a live (or dead) one on the beach.

Best of all it only costs a few pounds and will help lots more people to collect information about these animals to aid our conservation efforts.

Available from the FSC website.
