Donate to stop dolphins, porpoises and whales dying in fishing gear in UK waters
Thousands of dolphins, porpoises and whales die in fishing nets and gear every year in UK seas. Like us, whales and dolphins can’t breathe underwater. Many endure terrible wounds and broken bones as they try to escape. When they can’t struggle any more, they will close their blowhole and drown.
We need to stop their suffering. Please make a donation to help us end bycatch in the UK:
- £20 would enable us to meet with the Scottish Creel Fishermen’s Federation and Scottish Natural Heritage to explore ways to reduce the numbers of humpback and minke whales getting entangled in Scottish waters.
- £200 will enable us to prepare for and attend a meeting with the English, Welsh and Scottish Environment Ministers to discuss the need for new laws to stop whale and dolphin deaths in fishing gear.
- £1,000 will enable us to present evidence to EU and regional experts and governments and call for better protection.
- £2,000 could help us to examine existing legislation and determine what new laws we need to reduce the suffering.
