Help stop the transfer of whale products through EU ports

THIS PETITION IS NOW CLOSED. Thank you for your incredible support - 105,990 people signed on, urging the EU to stop whale products passing through its ports. We have asked Lord Maude, the UK Minister of State for Trade and Investment, for a meeting to handover your signatures and discuss our concerns. We will update you following this meeting.

HOW ODD!

The UK and many EU countries oppose whaling. The EU does not allow its Member States to trade in whale products.

YET THE EU IS ALLOWING SHIPS CARRYING WHALE MEAT AND PRODUCTS TO DOCK AT THEIR PORTS.

Icelandic and Norwegian whalers have shipped and transferred whale products through ports such as Southampton, Rotterdam and Hamburg. These ports accept money in exchange.

BY ALLOWING THESE SHIPMENTS TO PASS THROUGH ITS PORTS THE EU IS HELPING THE TRADE AND SUPPORTING COMMERCIAL WHALING.

Shipping whale meat across the globe without stopping at EU ports is very costly. If we close off EU ports to whale cargo, we hit the whalers in the pocket.

Help us stop whaling.
